Project Description

DESCRIPTION

This excursion consists of two level 2 hikes in the south-southwest area of the island within the Natural Park of Jandia.

We will drive with our vehicle to the southwest end of the peninsula of Jandia, Punta Pecebre, once we reach our destination, we will start our first route.

Once we arrive at our destination, we will start our first route. This route will take us northeast along the imposing windward coast, to then enter a sandy area, leaving to our right the remains of an ancient volcanic building called Talahijas, which will accompany us to the ravine of Agua Cabras, which as its name suggests, runs a small thread of salty water (not always active) where goats have been satisfiying their thirst for centuries. Once arrived at this beautiful place we will only miss about 300 m to see the wild and beautiful beach of el Junquillo and la Punta del Junquillo. After a short break we will undo our steps having another perspective of the coast, to return to our vehicle and head to another natural wonder that gives us the Natural Park of Jandia, Playa de Ojos.

We will continue our journey with our vehicle to the Punta de Jandia lighthouse where we will see the imposing and dangerous rocky shallows of la punta after the photos we will head to el Puertito where we will have free time to taste the magnificent fish soup of the area (reservation required) or just have a drink in the restaurants of the area, eat our sandwich on the shore of the beach or cool off with a swim (at your own risk).

Once we have recharged our batteries we will drive with our van to one of the most spectacular and breathtaking scenery of Fuerteventura, Cofete. We will make a stop at the famous Winter House to contemplate it from the outside and then head to the old cemetery of Cofete. After the mandatory photos of such majestic scenery, we will head to the starting point of our second hike; between cardones and a unique scenery  we will descend through a path full of volcanic formations  to the wild coast of Cofete. Once we arrived at the beach, we wil take off our shoes and head south, until we reach an imposing stone monolith known as El Roque del Moro. After a rest we will retrace our steps back to the vehicle to return home after this unforgettable day.
