Project Description
DESCRIPCION
We are facing one of the most spectacular routes of Fuerteventura, where the desert, the beach and the mountains are integrated into the same landscape.
Being part of the Natural Park of Jandia, Pecenescal ravine is one of the most interesting areas from the Paleontological point of view. Throughout the whole route we will be able to observe a great quantity of terrestrial fossils.
We will leave Pecenescal to the northwest by the “Camino de los presos” to access one of the most unique and impressive landscapes of Fuerteventura: a desert of dunes and paleo dunes known on the island as “the Jable”.
We will head southwest through a spectacular landscape shaped by natural erosion over millions of years. At the end of this stretch, a narrow fishermen’s path will guide us to a 14 km long virgin sandy beach: Playa Larga.
After a well-deserved rest, we will face the last slope to Degollada de Pecenescal, where we will reach an altitude of 250 m above sea level. There awaits us a small settlement of old stone houses and corrals that indicate a past of agricultural and livestock activity in the area. We are only 3.5 km away from the vehicle and the end of the route.
